It seems the festival is going social this year with a new facebook page dedicated to the event.

Be sure to check out the latest schedule of activities below and tune in to the official Quechee Balloon Festival website for the most detailed info.

2010 Schedule of Events

Balloon Flights

6:00 p.m., Friday June 18, 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 19 and Sunday June 20

Over twenty colorful balloons ascend over the Quechee valley and beyond. What a sight! Tethered balloon rides are available during the day (again – weather permitting!)

Friday, 6 pm

The Rubblebucket Orchestra

A wild young band from Boston, Brooklyn, and Burlington, Vermont (i.e. Ver-brook-ston) that currently tours as an 8 piece. Their banging horn sounds and dance beats provide a backbone for the mesmerizing vocals of lead singer, Kalmia Traver. Rubblebucket’s trip-rock sound has been compared to Talking Heads, Bjork, Fela Kuti and Portishead but what’s in the bucket is completely their own.

Rubblebucket won the 2009 Boston Music Award for Live Act of the Year and is featured in the December 2009 issue of Relix Magazine’s “On The Verge: 5 Artists You Should Know.” Additionally, they were named “Best New Band of 2008,” by Seven Days Vermont. The title had previously been held by Grace Potter & the Nocturnals (2005, 2006) and Phish (2003, 2004).

Saturday, 6 pm

Hey Mama featuring Avi & Celia

“You can tell right away that this music comes from the very fiber of their souls and it is absolutely spellbinding to listen to.”
–Rock and Roll Report

“Immaculately crafted, rock-tinged blues-folk.”
–Seven Days

“…..infused with rock, soul, and blues. It’s more electric, but doesn’t let go of that rootsy twang that is signature in Avi & Celia’s previous work.”
–pH Balanced

Sunday, 4 pm

Banjo Dan & the Mid-nite Plowboys

“The South doesn’t have the corner on good bluegrass groups anymore. In New England…Banjo Dan and the Mid-nite Plowboys can pick and sing with the best.”

Bluegrass Unlimited

“In Vermont, bluegrass means Banjo Dan.”
Barre-Montpelier Times-Argus
